Athabasca RCMP arrest and charge Edmonton male for firearms offences; “threatened the resident by stating he would burn down a shack”

Athabasca, Alberta – On July 3, 2022, Athabasca RCMP responded to a call for assistance at a rural property after several firearms were stolen from a residence. A male suspect allegedly drove to the rural property, threatened the resident by stating he would burn down a shack and then stole 3 firearms from a gun safe inside the residence.

The male suspect was later located by RCMP members driving a black Dodge Ram truck and a traffic stop was attempted. He did not stop for police and evaded a member who used his vehicle as a block on the highway. A pursuit was not initiated, however a short time later, Athabasca RCMP located the truck parked at a local hotel. The RCMP Emergency Response Team was deployed and the male suspect was arrested after surrendering peacefully.
