Youth dies in fiery crash on Alberta Highway 567, Airdrie RCMP seeking witnesses

Rocky View County, Alberta – On July 10, 2022, shortly before 5:00 pm, Airdrie RCMP and Airdrie Fire Services were dispatched to a collision involving a pickup truck and hatchback on Highway 567 near Range Road 284 in Rocky View County.

It is believed the adult male driver of the eastbound hatchback attempted to overtake a pickup truck pulling a travel trailer, also travelling eastbound, when the hatchback struck the back of the trailer. The impact caused the hatchback to leave the roadway and collide with a power pole in the north ditch. The power pole caught on fire and spread to the hatchback which became fully engulfed.
