Fort McMurray, Alberta – On August 2, 2022 at approximately 02:15 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a male with a firearm in the Abasand subdivision of Fort McMurray. The male isolated himself in a nearby wooded area until he eventually surrendered to police.
Wood Buffalo RCMP apprehended the male without incident and without injury. Police did not believe there was any risk to the public throughout the incident.
The male remains in police custody as the investigation is ongoing. Wood Buffalo RCMP do not anticipate any further updates.
