Parkland RCMP respond to collision on Alberta Highway 16A resulting in fatality

Parkland County, Alberta – On August 3, 2022 at about 1:35 p.m., Parkland RCMP, Parkland Fire, EMS and STARS Air Ambulance attended the scene of a collision involving a truck and a sedan. The collision occurred at Highway 16A and Range Road 20 in Parkland County, Alberta.

The driver of the sedan , a 22-year-old female, succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the truck, a 61-year-old-male, sustained minor injuries.

Highway 16A was reduced to a single lane in the westbound direction, and Range Road 20 between Highway 16 and Highway 16A was closed for several hours while the RCMP Collision Analyst and investigators completed their work.

Investigation showed that the sedan attempted to pull onto the highway in front of the truck, which did not have adequate time to stop before colliding with the sedan.
