North Vancouver, BC – North Vancouver RCMP are looking to speak with a witness to an indecent act that occurred at Lynn Canyon Park on July 31, 2022.
On July 31, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., RCMP while on patrol in Lynn Canyon Park were alerted by District of North Vancouver park rangers that a park goer had told them of a man exposing himself to hikers. RCMP officers immediately began patrols in an effort to locate the suspect.
As they searched the area, officers received additional reports of a man exposing himself near the 30 foot pool. Shortly thereafter, RCMP located and arrested a man matching the description provided by witnesses. The man, a Delta resident in his 30’s, was subsequently released on conditions including that he is not to attend Lynn Canyon Park.
The contact information for the park goer who initially spoke with park rangers was not obtained at the time they spoke with park rangers. RCMP are now appealing to that person to come forward and provide information about what they witnessed.
“If you are the person who advised Park Rangers of the indecent act on July 31, we are asking for you to contact North Vancouver RCMP at (604) 985-1311,” said Cpl. Melissa Jongema. “Anyone else who witnessed this suspect is also asked to contact police.”
Throughout much of the year, North Vancouver RCMP conduct patrols within District of North Vancouver Parks, working in partnership with District park rangers.
Thanks to the witnesses and to the actions of both the park rangers and RCMP officers on patrol in the park, the suspect was quickly arrested. We want to reassure the public that RCMP will continue to conduct regular patrols in District of North Vancouver parks throughout the summer, said Jongema.
