16-year-old placed under arrest following Saturday Homicide in Winnipeg, Manitoba

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On September 3, 2022, at 1:05 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence in the 200 block of Mapleglen Drive for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers located a severely injured male and began to administer emergency medical care – including the use of tourniquets. The male was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased and identified as Dakota Beardy, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg.

A male suspect was located in the area and placed under arrest.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation. It is believed that the suspect and victim were present together at the house when the altercation occurred.

A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

– Second Degree Murder

He was detained.
