Edson RCMP respond to serious Highway 16 injury collision that became a fatality

Edson, Alberta – On Sept. 2, 2022, at 1:05 p.m., Edson RCMP, along with Fire and Emergency Services, attended a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 16 at the intersection with Range Road 154 in Yellowhead County, Alta.

It is believed an SUV heading southbound on Range Road 154 entered Highway 16 and collided with a semi-trailer traveling westbound on Highway 16. The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries via STARS. On Sept. 3, 2022, the 73-year-old female, a resident of Peers, Alta., died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Her name will not be released. The driver of the semi-trailer was not physically injured.

The highway remained restricted for a couple of hours while Edson RCMP conducted their investigation.
