Fort Saskatchewan RCMP investigate a string of fires

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – Fort Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigative Service (GIS) has been investigating a series of fires throughout the City. On August 14, 2022, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP and the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department responded to a significant structure fire on 104 Street and 99 Avenue, shortly after 2:00 a.m. Two businesses were destroyed and many patrons displaced. The fire is being investigated as an arson. Since then, a number of fires have been set to outhouses, garbage bins and cigarette containers.

On August 23, 2022, there was a report of the outhouse at RCMP Park being burned to the ground and in the afternoon of September 6, 2022, a garbage can at a strip mall on 97 Avenue and 90 Street was lit on fire.

Again on September 6, 2022 at 7:20 pm, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP and the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department responded to another structure fire at the Historic Site on 100 Avenue and 100 Street. No injuries were reported.

Fort Saskatchewan GIS continue to investigate all incidents. It is unknown at this time if the series of fires are related.
