Fort McMurray, Alberta – Charges have been laid and arrest warrants issued for a man and woman accused in a series of armed robberies.
The events began on the morning of September 10th, 2022 at 5:54 A.M. when a man and woman robbed the Shell gas station at 142 Dickins Drive. A firearm was used during this offence. Throughout the morning, three more robberies or car jackings took place, all involving the same suspects. Ft. McMurray General Investigation Section led the investigation into this series of events and warrants for the arrest of the man and woman are now in effect.
Cameron Smith, age 33, of Ft. McMurray is wanted for:
3 counts of Robbery with a firearm – Sec. 334(1)(A.1) CC
3 counts of Careless use of a firearm – Sec. 86(1) CC
1 count of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Sec. 91(1) CC
1 count of Take Motor Vehicle without Consent – Sec. 335 CC
4 counts of Possess Firearm or Weapon while Prohibited – Sec. 117.01(1) CC
As well as 3 counts of failing to comply with a release order related to bail conditions imposed on September 7, 2022.
Candace Catsaroupas, age 30, of Ft. McMurray is wanted for:
3 counts of Robbery with a firearm – Sec. 334(1)(A.1) CC
3 counts of Careless use of a firearm – Sec. 86(1) CC
1 count of Robbery – Sec. 334 (1)(b) CC
1 count of Take Motor Vehicle without Consent – Sec. 335 CC

· Medium-heavy build
· 6 ft tall, 230lbs
· Brown eyes
· Black hair

Candace Catsaroupas is described as:
· Caucasian
· Slim build
· 5 ft tall, 110lbs
· Brown eyes
· Brown ad Red hair shaved on the side

BACKGROUND
Ft. McMurray, Alberta – Wood Buffalo RCMP have recovered all of the stolen vehicles taken during the robberies on September 10, 2022.
Both the male and female suspects in the robberies have been identified and are known to police. Warrants in the fist instance are being sought for the suspects at this time. A further update will be provided once charges are sworn and identities can be released.
BACKGROUND
Ft. McMurray, Alberta – Wood Buffalo RCMP are currently investigating four armed robberies which occurred in the City of Ft. McMurray early in the morning of September 10, 2022.
At 5:54 A.M., RCMP were called to a robbery involving a firearm at a Shell gas station at 142 Dickins Dr. A male and a female entered the store brandishing a firearm demanding money.
Since that time, 3 additional robberies have taken place, all of which are best described as “car jackings”. The last reported incident occurred at approximately 8:30am in the Downtown area of Ft. McMurray. All of these robberies are believed to have been committed by the same suspects. No injuries have occurred during the robberies. Wood Buffalo RCMP are advising the public of anticipated police operations happening throughout the day and asking for citizens to be alert and report suspicious activity.
Suspect 1 is described as a Caucasian male, 30-35 years old, 6 feet tall and 230lbs with black hair and brown eyes. The male was last seen wearing black shoes, grey pants a red shirt and a black hat.
Suspect 2 is described as a Caucasian female 30-35 years old, 5 feet tall and 110lbs with red hair that is shaved on one side. The female was last seen wearing a black shirt and grey pants.
As a result of the vehicle thefts, investigators are looking for 2 stolen vehicles which may be being used by the suspects. The first is a white 2022 Toyota Corolla with Alberta License plate CJK 040. The second is a grey 2013 Ford Escape with Alberta License plate BWM 1545.
Anyone who sees the suspects or these vehicles is asked to not approach them and to call 911 or the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4040.
