Slave Lake, Alberta – Slave Lake RCMP are advising the public that the collision on Highway 88 has been cleared and traffic flow has resumed.
BACKGROUND
Slave Lake, Alberta – RCMP in slave lake are advising motorists of a significant traffic disruption on Highway 88 as they investigate a motor vehicle collision.
At approximately 7:30 A.M. September 11, 2022 Slave Lake RCMP were dispatched to a collision on Highway 88, north of the town of Slave lake. A southbound pick up truck and northbound semi tanker truck collided head on. The driver and lone occupant of the semi was not injured. The driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck has been airlifted by STARS to Edmonton hospital with serious injuries. The tanker truck was not loaded at the time of the collision.

Due to the collision and ongoing investigation into the cause, Highway 88 traffic is being re-rerouted at North Shore Drive and Devonshire Beach Road. Significant delays should be expected and motorists are asked to use alternate routes for the next several hours.
