Regina Police charge 19-year-old with Sexual Assault

Regina, Saskatchewan – On the evening of Friday, September 9, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a 33 year-old female was running in Wascana Park, just off of Broadway Avenue. While out of view of other park attendees, a 19 year-old male, unknown to the female, rode up on a scooter behind the runner and tackled her to the ground. The male then covered her mouth, pulled her into the bushes, and sexually assaulted her.

When the victim screamed for help, passersby were alerted and confronted the assailant, who then gave up the attack. Police were called and the male was arrested, and taken into custody where he was charged.

Nineteen year-old Noah SMITH, of Regina, is charged with:

• Sexual Assault by Choking, Suffocating, or Strangling [CC 272(1)(C.1)].

SMITH was remanded and appeared in Provincial Court today, Monday, September 12, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
