Burin Peninsula RCMP investigates possible attempted child abduction by unknown motorist

Marystown, Newfoundland and Labrador – Burin Peninsula RCMP is investigating a possible attempted child abduction that occurred yesterday evening on Creston Boulevard in Marystown.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report from a parent indicating that their child was approached while walking along the road by an unknown male who was operating a truck. The man asked the youth to get into the vehicle. The youth refused and ran to a nearby residence.

The Caucasian man, who was the lone occupant of the truck, is described as being between 40-50 years old. He has grey hair and is of a skinny build. The vehicle is described as a red pick up truck.

Patrols were conducted; the vehicle and driver were not located or identified.

The investigation is continuing. RCMP NL encourages parents to talk to their children about what they should do to protect themselves in a situation such as this.
