UPDATE: Conklin, Alberta man charged with Indignity to Human Remains in death of William Tremblay

Conklin, Alberta – RCMP Major Crimes has laid charges in relation to the discovery of human remains on April 19, 2019, in Conklin, Alta. An autopsy revealed that the deceased was 54-year-old William Tremblay, a resident of Conklin, Alta.

On Sept. 16, 2022, Ryan Tremblay (37), a resident of Conklin, Alta, was arrested and has been charged with Indignity to Human Remains. Tremblay remains in custody and is set to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on Oct. 3, 2022.

As this matter is before the courts, no further information will be released.

Wood Buffalo RCMP and Major Crimes North investigate found human remains

Conklin, Alta. – On April 8, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP were dispatched to a report of a travel trailer that had burned down on a remote pathway. Members attended and discovered the smouldering remains of a travel trailer. Further investigation lead to the discovery of what is believed to be human remains inside.

The scene was secured and the investigation is ongoing. RCMP Major Crimes North has assumed carriage of the investigation and is being assisted by RCMP Forensic Identification Services and a Fire Investigator from Wood Buffalo Regional Fire Department.

An autopsy will take place on April 11, 2019 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.

The investigation is in the preliminary stages. An update will be provided once new information becomes available.
