Drumheller RCMP lay charges in drug investigation; “male was assaulted and threatened with a firearm at a residence in the north end of Drumheller”

Drumheller, Alberta – On Sept. 16, 2022, Drumheller RCMP entered into an investigation involving drug trafficking and weapons offences after an allegation was made that a male was assaulted and threatened with a firearm at a residence in the north end of Drumheller. On Sept. 17, Drumheller RCMP, assisted by the Calgary Police Emergency Response Team and Calgary Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant at this residence.

As a result of the search, Police located fentanyl, methamphetamine, as well as several other items that were confirmed to be stolen.

Lloyd Smith (56), a resident of Drumheller, has been charged with the following offences:

· Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking

· Possession of methamphetamine

· Possession of property obtained by crime (x4)

Lloyd Smith was released from custody and will be appearing in Drumheller Provincial Court on Nov. 25, 2022.

Shane Pentelescu (37), a resident of Drumheller, has been charged with the following offences:

· Pointing a firearm

· Uttering threats

· Assault

Shane Pentelescu was released from custody following a judicial interim release hearing and will be appearing in Drumheller Provincial Court on Oct. 21, 2022.
