High Level RCMP investigate pedestrian fatality; “struck by a pickup truck while walking on Highway 58”

Bushe River, Alberta — On Sept. 21, 2022, at 4:52 a.m., High Level RCMP received a request for assistance at a residence located n Dene Tha’ First Nation as an intoxicated individual was outside the residence refusing to leave.

While High Level RCMP was en route to attend the location, the intoxicated individual had walked away from the residence. A short time later, the individual had been struck by a pickup truck while walking on Highway 58.

High Level RCMP arrived on scene along with fire services who provided first aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The 25-year-old injured female, a resident of Grimshaw, Alta., was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the deceased will not be released.

High Level RCMP continue to investigation this fatality. High Level RCMP extend their condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
