Buck Lake, Alberta – On Aug. 31, 2022, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Breton RCMP received a report of an armed robbery that occurred at an area liquor store.
A male and female entered a local business in Buck Lake carrying bear spray and making threats to the cashier. There was third individual involved, a female driver waiting outside in the suspect vehicle.
Breton RCMP obtained surveillance footage of the suspects and involved vehicle. Rocky Mountain House RCMP assisted in locating the suspect vehicle in their jurisdiction.
RCMP were able to confirm the identity of the male involved using the surveillance footage.
Michael Mackinaw (38), a resident of Buck Lake, was arrested and is facing multiple charges including:
· Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
· Uttering threats
· Possession of a prohibited weapon
· Fail to comply with a condition of a release order (x4)
· Fail to comply with an order
Michael Mackinaw has his next court appearance set for Sept. 28, 2022 at Breton Provincial Court
Further investigation by the Breton RCMP confirmed the identity of the two female suspects.
Janice Chipaway (33), a resident of O’Chiese First Nation, was arrested and charged with Robbery. Her next court appearance is set for Sept. 28, 2022 at Breton Provincial Court
Lora Mackinaw (42), a resident of Sunchild First Nation, is currently wanted for Robbery.
Lora Mackinaw is described as:
· Medium complexion
· 5’1” tall
· 145 pounds
· Brown hair
· Brown eyes.
