8th person arrested in relation to Megan Gallagher death investigation; “planned search for Megan has begun in the St. Louis, SK area” – HUMAN REMAINS LOCATED

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – (October 5, 2022) – The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section has laid another charge in connection to the homicide of Megan Gallagher, and are looking for assistance locating another suspect.

44-year-old Roderick William Sutherland (1978-02-07) was arrested on October 4th, 2022 by Prince Albert RCMP. He was previously charged in the investigation, with Indignity to Human Remains, and now faces an additional charge of First Degree Murder. He will appear before a Justice of the Peace this evening.

The SPS is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 24-year-old Summer-Sky Henry (1998-7-16). A warrant has been requested for First Degree Murder, in relation to the Megan Gallagher homicide. Henry also has unrelated outstanding criminal code warrants including; Unlawful Confinement, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Firearm Offences, Drug Charges, and Failing to Comply with a Court Order. Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Summer-Sky Henry to call 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. A photo of Henry is attached for distribution. At this point, investigators of the Major Crime Section do not anticipate any further charges and believe that they have identified everyone that was involved in the death of Megan Gallagher. However, investigators will continue to accept tips and information from the public regarding the investigation.

BACKGROUND

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – (Sept 29, 2022) Following the first of what was planned to be four days of searching for Megan Gallagher, human remains have been recovered.

The SPS Major Crime Section coordinated the search of the South Saskatchewan River following consultation with Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker and officials from the Water Security Agency.  Assistance was also provided by a number of civilian search and rescue personnel, members of the Provincial Protective Services, along with purpose-trained K9 teams from the Calgary Police Service.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. today searchers on the river near the community of St. Louis located human remains.  The SPS Forensic Identification Unit will be processing the scene and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has been notified.   Testing will be conducted to determine identity.

John was transported to SPS Detention and remains in police custody; he is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.. Investigators anticipate additional arrests as the investigation progresses.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – (Sept 28, 2022) The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section has arrested a man and charged him with the unlawful confinement and aggravated assault of Megan Gallagher. This is the seventh person arrested in connection to the investigation.

On September 27, 2022, SPS investigators attended to a correctional facility in Saskatoon to effect the arrest of Thomas Richard Sutherland, age 42 (DOB 1980/02/01); he was incarcerated on an unrelated sentence at the time of his arrest. Sutherland was transported to SPS Detention and remains in police custody; he is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court today, September 28, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.. Investigators anticipate additional arrests as the investigation progresses.

The Saskatoon Police Service is also announcing details relevant to a planned search for Megan. As a result of investigation, and in consultation with Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker and officials from the Water Security Agency, the SPS Major Crime Section will be coordinating an extensive search of the South Saskatchewan River and its banks in the St. Louis, SK area. A number of civilian search and rescue personnel, members of the Provincial Protective Services, and purpose-trained K9 teams from the Calgary Police Service will be assisting in the search.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – (Sept 20, 2022) The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section has arrested a man and charged him with the first degree murder of Megan Gallagher.

On September 20th, 2022, SPS investigators, with assistance from British Columbia RCMP (E Division), arrested the 27-year-old man at a residence in Prince George, B.C. He is being transported back to Saskatoon where he will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court later this week.

This is the fifth arrest made by the SPS in connection to the homicide of Megan Gallagher. Further arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

41-year-old male charged in Death of Megan Gallagher, previously reported Missing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Investigators from the Saskatoon Police Service Major Crimes Section have arrested and charged a 41-year-old man in connection with the death of Megan Gallagher. Gallagher was last seen in Saskatoon in September of 2020. In January of 2021 the SPS announced it was treating the disappearance of Gallagher as a homicide investigation.

The 41-year-old Saskatoon man will be charged under Section 182 (b) of the Criminal Code – Indignity to Human Remains. He is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 2, 2022. Court information # 991198288.

Police have also issued arrest warrants for three other people connected to the case.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section is entering into a homicide investigation into the suspicious missing persons file of 30-year-old Megan Gallagher.

Throughout the investigation, the Major Crime Section has been assisting the Missing Persons Detail and has spoken to several people in regards to Megan’s disappearance. There remain others who police wish to speak with. Anyone who had contact with Megan, either in person or via phone, text or social media, between September 19th and 30th, 2020, is asked to contact Police.

On September 20, 2020, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Megan was observed on video at a convenience store in the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive. She was wearing a black Cabella’s hoodie, black pants, and a light blue shirt underneath her hoodie. Megan also has several tattoos:

The Saskatoon Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 30-year-old Megan Michelle Gallagher.

Megan has not been in contact with family since September 16, 2020. It was reported that she was believed to have last been seen leaving a residence on Lloyd Crescent at approximately 2:30 p.m. on September 18, 2020. There are concerns for her safety as she may be in a vulnerable state and it is unusual for her not to be in contact with family for this length of time.

Megan is described as being 5’10” tall, approximately 180 lbs, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She has several tattoos, described as:
