Edmonton Police investigating pedestrian fatality on Fort Road

Edmonton, Alberta – EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Fort Road this evening.

At approximately 9:13 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, EPS Northeast Branch patrol members received a report of an injured pedestrian on Fort Road southbound at approximately 134A Avenue. EMS attended, and the 22-year-old male pedestrian was, sadly, pronounced deceased on scene.

The 35-year-old male driver of a Cadillac CTS that reportedly struck the pedestrian remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

MCIS is leading the ongoing investigation. Investigators have since learned the pedestrian was traveling west across the traffic lanes of Fort Road when he was struck, and was not in a cross walk. Driver alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
