Strathmore RCMP recover trove of Stolen Property from rural property near Carseland, Alberta; “male emerged from the residence holding an axe”

Wheatland County, Alberta – On September 30, 2022 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Strathmore RCMP members attended a rural property near Carseland, Alberta for the purpose of a condition compliance check for a resident. Upon arrival, one of the investigators recognized a 5th wheel travel trailer reported stolen only days prior. Another travel trailer was parked on the property which was also determined to be stolen. It was apparent efforts to clean and resell the trailers was under way. While on the property, a male emerged from the residence holding an axe. The male was placed under arrest and a warrant to further search the property was obtained.

With assistance of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, Strathmore members executed the search warrant which resulted in the recovery of:

2019 Montana 5th wheel travel trailer stolen from a storage yard in Rocky View County;

2014 Torque 5th wheel travel trailer stolen out of Westlock Alberta;

2015 Volkswagen Jetta stolen out of Calgary;

1989 Honda CBR600 motorbike stolen out of Calgary;

Ford F350 with the VIN removed;

Utility trailer;

Various tools and equipment; and

Several pieces of identification not belonging to any of the property occupants. Most verified to be stolen.

During the search, four other property occupants were located and arrested. Two individuals were after their outstanding warrants were dealt with. The remaining three arrested were held for bail hearings in relation to this matter.

Domingus DACHUNA, a 54 year old resident of Wheatland County was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (PSP) Over $5,000 X 4, PSP Under $5,000, and Illegal Possession of Government Documents X 3. He was released on conditions and low cash bail without deposit to appear at a later date;

Michaela FELICE, a 21 year old resident of Airdrie was charged with the same offences. FELICE was also wanted by Calgary Service via warrant for 17 charges including property, unlawful possession of stolen credit cards, unlawful possession of identity documents, PSP, and firearm offences. FELICE was released on low cash bail without deposit with conditions to appear at a later date;

Travis BIRCH, a 42 year old resident of Calgary was charged with the same offences with the addition of Failure to Comply With a Release Order. BIRCH was also wanted by Calgary Police Service via warrant for 19 charges property, fraud, unlawful possession of identity documents, and firearm offences. BIRCH was released on both Strathmore and Calgary matters with conditions and subsequent to payment of low cash bail to appear at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be laid.
