Fort Saskatchewan RCMP asking public to avoid area of multiple structure fire in Woodsmere area – UPDATED

Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. – Fort Saskatchewan RCMP advise that the fires have now been extinguished. Traffic can now get through the area.

Investigators are still on scene and it may take some time before they know the cause of the fire. An update will be sent when more information become available.

BACKGROUND

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – (7:44 a.m.) On Oct. 16, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received a 911 call of a structure fire in the area of Woodsmere Close in Fort Saskatchewan.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services all attended the scene and remain on scene. At this time approximately six homes in the Woodsmere Close area have been affected by the original structure fire.

The Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department continues to work and we are asking the public to remain clear of the area to give emergency services workers room to work.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation; no injuries are known at this time.

When more information is available an update will be provided.
