RCMP assume investigation after body located in rural area outside Lethbridge

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police have located a deceased person in a rural area outside the city and the ongoing investigation has been transferred to RCMP.

On Oct. 24, 2022, members of the LPS Criminal Investigation Section, acting on information obtained during an ongoing missing persons investigation, attended an area west of the city and located a body.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Oct. 26, 2022 at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary to confirm the identity of the deceased and cause of death.

As the body was found outside the city, the investigation has been transferred to the RCMP.

LPS is unable to release any further information.

BACKGROUND

Coaldale RCMP investigating the discovery of a body

Coaldale, Alta. – On Oct. 24, 2022, at approximately 5 p.m., Coaldale RCMP were dispatched to a report of found human remains which had been located near Range Road 225 and Township Road 92, in Lethbridge County.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken carriage of the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for Oct. 26, 2022, at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary, to confirm the deceased’s identity and cause of death.

The investigation continues. An update will be sent when more information becomes available.
