Cochrane RCMP make significant drug seizure at Calgary residence following death of person who was suspected to have died from accidental fentanyl overdose

Cochrane, Alberta – In February of 2022, Cochrane RCMP General Investigation Section and Crime Reduction Unit entered into an investigation following the death of a person who was suspected to have died from an accidental fentanyl overdose. This developed into a joint drug trafficking investigation with Calgary Police Service District Operations Team 20. On Oct. 5, 2022, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Calgary.

As a result of the search warrant, police seized:

· 116 grams of fentanyl

· 364 grams of methamphetamine

· 316 grams of cocaine

Owen Michael Tracy (24), a resident of Calgary, Alta., has been charged with the following offences:

· Production of a controlled substance

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance (x4)

· Possession of a thing intended to be used to traffic a controlled substance (x2)

· Possession of property obtained by crime

Kudzaiishe Thomas Ngara (24), a resident of Calgary, Alta., has been charged with the following offences:

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance (x4)

· Possession of a thing intended to be used to traffic a controlled substance (x2)

Tracy and Ngara have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on Nov. 15, 2022.
