Richmond, BC – At approximately 10:56 am on November 16, 2022 Richmond RCMP attended the 11000 block of No 5 Rd for two victims suffering from stab wounds in a local area business.
Richmond RCMP frontline officers arrived on scene almost immediately upon receiving the call, however, the male suspect had already left the area.
Through coordinated efforts with multiple police jurisdictions and Integrated units, throughout the Lower Mainland, the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident shortly after 12:00 pm. The man was held in custody.
Two counts of aggravated assault have since been laid against Andrew Patrick Weynes.
Weynes has been remanded and remains in-custody.
“This type of violent attack has a huge impact not only on the employees at the business and their families but on the community as a whole,” says Staff Sergeant Gene Hsieh, Richmond RCMP Major Crimes Unit Commander. “We hope knowing a suspect has been charged and remanded in custody, brings a sense of relief to those both directly and indirectly involved. We also want to thank every officer and police agency that assisted in identifying, locating and arresting the suspect.”
Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation.
