Emergency crews discover deceased person following Fort Saskatchewan garage fire

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – On Nov. 19, 2022, at 1:42 p.m. Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of a garage fire in the 9400 block of 98 street in Fort Saskatchewan. Local fire was successful in extinguishing the fire. Upon entering the garage, emergency crews located a deceased person. The deceased has been transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner where an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identification of the deceased is anticipated on November 22, 2022.

The Fort Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigative Section has taken carriage of the investigation. RCMP will be working with the Fire Investigator to determine a cause of the fire.

Although early in the investigation, the cause of the fire does not appear suspicious.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP on scene at structure fire

Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. – Fort Saskatchewan RCMP, along with Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department, are currently on scene at a structure fire. A garage has caught fire in the 9400 block of 98 Street. At this time, the fire has been contained. The investigation continues.

RCMP are asking people to avoid the area at this time. An update will be sent when available.
