Grande Prairie RCMP arrest two individuals in stolen truck

Grande Prairie, Alberta – On Nov. 5, 2022 officers with the Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction unit (CRU)located a Silver Dodge flat deck truck that was suspected of being involved in multiple criminal occurrences in Fort St John and Dawson creek, including ramming a police vehicle and fleeing from police. Police attempted a traffic stop with the vehicle, however fled from police. The occupants eventually abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. A male and female were subsequently arrested. Further investigation determined that the vehicle had been stolen from Wembley in Aug. 2022.

Darin Loeppky (46) a resident of Wembley and Chantal McDonald (41) a resident of Beaverlodge were charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

McDonald was released on an undertaking and scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on Dec. 5, 2022.

Loeppky was further charged with the following offences:

· Flight from police

· Failing to comply with a release order X 2

· Unlawful possession of a Government identity document

At the time of his arrest Loeppky was also wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants from British Columbia.

Following a Judicial interim release hearing Loeppky was released from custody for his Alberta matters and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on Nov. 28, 2022. Loeppky was held in custody for his BC matters and was transported back to BC to be brought before the courts in that Province.

The Grande Prairie RCMP works closely with partner agencies and the Police of other jurisdictions. The timely sharing of information between RCMP jurisdictions was instrumental in locating these individuals, and recovering the stolen truck so it could be returned to it’s lawful owner.
