St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit investigation leads to arrest of Edmonton resident

St. Albert, Alberta – St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit, with the assistance of ALERT Edmonton, conducted an investigation into Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Trafficking in the Summer of 2022 which lead to the arrest of the suspect on October 20th, 2022.

Yogesh Boojhawon (32), a resident of Edmonton, was charged with the following:

Trafficking Methamphetamine X 4

Trafficking Fentanyl X 2

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X 4

Possession of Property obtained by Crime X 6

Possess illegal cigarettes under the Tobacco Tax Act

St. Albert Drug Unit, with the assistance from the St. Albert Crime Reduction Unit and the St. Albert General Investigation Section, executed a search warrant at a residence in Edmonton, Alta, where Yogesh Boojhawon was arrested, and the following items were seized:

833.59 grams Methamphetamine approximate street value of $50,640.

82.42 grams Fentanyl approximate street value of $16,400.

114.89 grams Cocaine approximate street value of $11,500.

46.83 grams Buffing Agent

250 ML Suspected gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB)

One tablet Morphine Sulphate

$12,570 Canadian Currency

2015 Lexus IS250

Value of drugs estimated to be over $70,000.
Value of drugs estimated to be over $70,000.

Yogesh Boojhawon was released from custody and will appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on December 6, 2022.
