Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador – An elderly man has died following a house fire at his residence in the community of Glenwood. Gander RCMP and the Glenwood Fire Department responded to the scene after a 911 call was received just before 4:30 a.m. this morning.
The body of the elderly man, who was the lone occupant, was found as fire fighters entered the home, which was engulfed in flames. Fire crews and police remain on scene at this time.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have been engaged in the investigation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Gander RCMP acknowledges the heroic efforts of the Glenwood Fire Department and paramedics and extends deepest condolences to the elderly man’s loved ones.
