Rocky View County, Alberta – On December 7 , 2022 at approximately 1:30 a.m. while patrolling Wrangler Park in Rocky View County, members encountered a vehicle parked out of place near a business. A query of the license plate revealed it was stolen. Members positioned their vehicles close to the suspect vehicle to prevent it from fleeing the area. Upon approach, the lone occupant and driver was found sleeping behind the wheel. Members opened the unlocked door and arrested the male occupant. The vehicle was also found to be stolen out of Calgary. A large volume of tools and various bags filled with goods believed to be stolen were found within the vehicle.

The occupant was transported to Strathmore Detachment cells where he was held for a bail hearing. Lakhwinder MANGAT, a 44 year old resident of Calgary was charged with 10 new offences including Possession of Property of Crime Over $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Failure to Comply with a Condition of an Undertaking X 4, and other Traffic Safety Act charges. MANGAT was released during the hearing with conditions and a future court date. At the time of his arrest, MANGAT was at large on two outstanding auto theft investigations. This investigation remains open to identify owners of the property found within the vehicle.
