Leduc, Alberta – On Dec. 13, 2022 at approximately 12:45 a.m., Leduc RCMP were dispatched to a break and enter in progress at a business in the area of Sparrow Drive in Leduc.
Leduc RCMP members with the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services, attended the business and observed a suspect running through a ditch in an attempt to evade police. Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect was arrested. A second suspect involved in the break and enter was located and arrested a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were charged:
Simon John Kurgan (33), a resident of Leduc, with:
Break and enter to commit theft
Obstructing a Peace Officer
Mischief over $5,000.
Branden Dwayne Land (26), a resident of Leduc, with:
Break and enter to commit theft
Mischief over $5,000.
Following a judicial hearing, Kurgan and Land were released from custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2023 in Leduc provincial court.
