Community crams thousands into Stuff a Cruiser campaign in Kamloops

Kamloops, BC – Board games, toys, and clothes filled up the back of a police SUV and a crime prevention van during this weekend’s Stuff a Cruiser fundraiser.

On Saturday Dec. 10, 2022, Sergeant Safety Bear and members of the Kamloops RCMP Crime Prevention team backed their vehicles up to the exits of the Real Canadian Superstore to collect unwrapped gifts and donations for Christmas Amalgamated.

A team of Crime Prevention volunteers and staff, wearing high visibility vests, gathered in front of a police cruiser with signs for Stuff the Cruiser.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., shoppers delivered approximately $5,000 worth of merchandise and more than $800 in cash and gift cards in support of the charitable organization, which will distribute the items to children and youth through holiday hampers.

“We know this year has been financially challenging for many residents and are incredibly grateful and impressed by the generosity they continue to show in support of the annual fundraiser,” said Corporal Dana Napier of the Crime Prevention Unit.

“This year’s event was at a new location, the Real Canadian Superstore on Columbia Street West, which was incredibly generous in offering space, support, and boxes of donations to start the collections going on Saturday,” she added.

Anyone who would like to donate but missed Saturday’s event can contact Christmas Amalgamated at 250-376-0777.
