Fort Saskatchewan RCMP lay drug trafficking charges

Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta – Dec. 21, 2022, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/ Crime Reduction Unit (T/CRU) with the assistance of the Fort Saskatchewan General Investigation Section (GIS) executed a search warrant on a local residence following a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation in the area of Fort Saskatchewan.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 80 grams of cocaine, 4 grams of methamphetamines, 8 grams of psilocybin, drug paraphernalia along with Canadian currency and several digital scales.

Kerwin Beier (52), of Fort Saskatchewan has been charged with the following offences:

Trafficking in a controlled substance – Cocaine (x2), Section 5(1) of the CDSA

Possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking – Cocaine, Section 5(2) of the CDSA

Possession of a schedule I substance – Methamphetamine, Section 4(1) of the CDSA

Possession of a schedule III substance – Psilocybin, Section 4(1) of the CDSA

Possession of property obtained by crime – Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Following a judicial hearing, Beier was released on conditions to appear in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court on Jan. 29, 2023.
