Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police have charged a 52-year-old man in connection with an incident where he threatened to detonate an explosive device.
On January 3, 2023 at approximately 12:00 p.m. police responded to a report of an explosive device inside a moving company van parked along the 1000 block of 13 Street South after the business received a call that the device was going to be detonated. Police subsequently searched the van and no explosives were located. A male subject was identified and arrested without incident at a residence along the 1600 block of Scenic Drive South.
Following further investigation it was determined the male was a client of the business and demanded his property be delivered immediately or he was going to remotely detonate an explosive device in the back of the van.
Winston Wolfe, 52, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court March 22, 2023.

A number of homes in the area of the van were evacuated or residents directed to shelter in place while police were on scene.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

The vehicle is parked and all occupants have safely exited.
