Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services investigating double homicide in The Pas – UPDATED

The Pas, Manitoba – On January 15, 2023, at 3:55 am, The Pas RCMP received a report of an unresponsive male located near a residence in The Pas.

Officers attended and located two victims, in close proximity to one another, both with obvious signs of trauma. Both victims, a 42-year-old male and a 37-year-old male, died from their injuries.

An extensive investigation was immediately launched and multiple resources were deployed including officers from The Pas RCMP Detachment and surrounding areas, Major Crime Services, Forensic Identification Services, Search and Rescue and the Emergency Response Team.

On January 23, and January 31, 2023, two males aged 25 and 20, were arrested and later released with no charges.

On January 31, 2023, a 17-year-old male from Moose Lake was arrested and has been charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder. He was remanded into custody.

At this time, there is no known connection between the two victims and the youth charged in the homicide.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.


On January 15, 2023, The Pas RCMP responded to a double homicide within the town.

Major Crime Services have a warrant of arrest for a 17-year-old male from The Pas and Moose Lake area in relation to these homicides.

In the late morning of January 15, 2023, the second victim succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The Pas RCMP along with Major Crime Services continue to investigate.
