Lethbridge Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision; “a male was killed and a female critically injured”

Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police continue to investigate a pedestrian collision where a male was killed and a female critically injured after being struck by a vehicle at a northside intersection.

On January 17, 2023 at approximately 3 p.m. police responded to the intersection of 26 Avenue and 28 Street North. EMS were already on scene and a 66-year-old male was declared deceased. A 62-year-old female was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was subsequently transferred by STARS to Calgary where she remains in critical condition.

Investigation determined a GMC truck was travelling eastbound on 26 Avenue North and proceeded to make a northbound turn onto 28 Street North striking the pedestrians as they crossed in the crosswalk. The driver immediately stopped and called 911.

The collision remains under investigation.
