Lac La Biche RCMP investigate serious motor vehicle collision on Alberta Highway 36

Lac la Biche Alberta – On Jan. 23, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Lac La Biche RCMP received a 911 call of a multi vehicle collision on Highway 36 near Township Road 662a in Lac La Biche.

Lac La Biche RCMP, Emergency Medical Services, Lac La Biche Fire Services and Lac La Biche County Peace Officers attended. The Lac La Biche RCMP preliminary investigation indicates a head on collision occurred between a pick-up truck and a semi-truck.

The 37-year-old female driver and lone occupant of the pick-up truck, a resident of Lac La Biche, suffered serious injuries and was taken by EMS to Lac La Biche Hospital and transported by plane to Edmonton due to the severity of her injuries. The female driver is reported to be in serious but stable condition.

The 48-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the semi-truck, a resident of Leduc, did not suffer any physical injuries.

Highway 36 was closed for several hours for the investigation and was reopened for traffic at approximately 12:45 a.m. The investigation is still on going at this time, and further updates will be provided when additional information is available.
