Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police are investigating an incident where an unknown male approached a 12-year-old boy and grabbed onto his backpack.
On January 26, 2023 at approximately 7:45 a.m. the boy was walking east down 14 Avenue South in the 1800 block when he observed a male who began walking toward him at a brisk pace. The boy immediately began to return home and lost sight of the male. A short time later he resumed his walk to school when he was confronted by the same male along 14 Avenue South near 18 Street South. The male grabbed his backpack from behind but the boy was able to pull away and run from the area. Police were contacted and conducted patrols but were unable to locate anyone matching the male’s description.
The subject is described as a Caucasian male wearing a black hoodie, grey pants and a black bandana on his head.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking residents in the area who have security cameras to check their video between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 am. on January 26 to see if anyone matching the subject’s description was recorded.
Anyone who has camera footage of the subject or may have been in the area at the time and observed him, is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 and reference file 23001939.
