Edmonton Police lay charges in firearm trafficking investigation

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a Gibbons, AB, resident following a four-month firearm trafficking investigation.

In September of 2022, the EPS Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) initiated an investigation into a 50-year-old male suspected of firearms trafficking.

On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, EPS FIU, with the assistance of the Morinville RCMP and Fort McMurray Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams, conducted search warrants in Gibbons, Edmonton and Fort McMurray. Additional evidence was recovered to support that the accused trafficked his firearms.

Nanthakhone Keomanivong, 50, has been charged with firearms trafficking (x2), careless storage of a firearm (x2), and unauthorized storage location (x2).
