Charges Laid After Burlington Store Found Selling Prohibited Weapons

Burlington, Ontario – The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made a pair of arrests and laid charges after an investigation into a store selling prohibited weapons.

On February 2, 2023, investigators with the 3 District (Burlington) Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at the “Big Bear” store located at 450 Appleby Line in Burlington. As a result of the search, police seized the following items:

5 Butterfly knives

21 Brass knuckles

53 Flick or torsion bar knives

6 Spring assisted telescopic batons

1 Single handed crossbow

All of these weapons are prohibited as defined by the Criminal Code and were on display for sale.

On February 2, 2023, Anqi Liu (29) and Zhengran Qiao (32) both of Burlington, were arrested and each have been charged with 3 counts of Possession for the Purpose of Weapons Trafficking.
