Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect following multiple vehicle thefts in southeast Edmonton in December.
At approximately 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, police were called regarding the theft of a dark grey 2019 Toyota Camry in the area of 16 Avenue and 32 Street. It was reported to police that a small black sport sedan pulled up in front of the residence and a male wearing a bright orange parka exited the vehicle and stole the Camry. Both vehicles then fled the scene.
At approximately 8:35 a.m. the same morning, police received a report that a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck was stolen from a residence in the area of 49 Street and 13 Avenue. It was reported to police that a small black sport sedan similar to the vehicle described in the first theft was also present when the truck was stolen. Approximately an hour later, at 9:37 a.m., Onstar directed police to the truck, which was located on the street in the area of 11 Avenue and 29 Street. The male in the orange parka was then noted on CCTV footage exiting the truck and getting into the Camry to leave the scene.
That afternoon, at approximately 2 p.m., the owner of the Camry found his vehicle parked and locked in the area of 29 Street and 16 Avenue and immediately phoned police. While waiting for police to arrive, the male in the orange parka and another male arrived in the same small black sport sedan and attempted to take the Camry. When the owner intervened, the man in the vehicle produced a firearm and threatened to shoot him. Both vehicles then fled the scene. The Camry was later recovered in the area of 32 Street and 18 Avenue on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.
Investigators have been unable to identify or locate the suspects and are subsequently releasing a sketch of the man in the vehicle in hopes that someone may be able to identify him. A photo of the sedan is also included below.

The suspect in the vehicle is described as a thin white male with long blond hair. He was reportedly wearing a hoodie and a jacket. Due to the speed and the stress of the incidents, witnesses were unable to provide a description of the man in the orange parka.
“Vehicle theft is unfortunately common citywide, but the suspect’s use of a firearm when approached is very concerning,” says Const. Stacy Powell with Southeast Branch Patrol. “Anyone who recognizes this man is advised to not approach or engage him and immediately call police.”
Investigators are also asking anyone with dash camera or home security video that was active on Sunday, Dec. 18 in the areas the vehicles were stolen and/or located to please contact police. Citizens can contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
