Leduc RCMP respond to break and enter in progress at a rural property

Leduc County, Alberta – On Feb. 16, 2023, at approximately 7:50 a.m., Leduc RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter in progress to a rural property east of Leduc in Leduc County.

Officers attended the area and were immediately advised that there was an unknown vehicle and suspect at the rural residence. Officers began searching the area where they quickly located the lone suspect and placed him under arrest. The residence was not occupied at the time of the offence.

Following the arrest, officers searched the vehicle associated to the suspect and recovered property from the residence including firearms.

Kurt Emil Heitrich (47), a resident of Edmonton, Alta. was charged with the following:

Break and enter

Possession of a weapon contrary to order

Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Operation while prohibited

Following a judicial hearing, Heitrich was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Leduc provincial court on March 2, 2023.
