Fisher Branch, Manitoba – On February 27, 2023, at approximately 11:10 pm, RCMP were notified that a six-year-old child was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The investigation has determined that earlier that night, children were at a residence on Peguis First Nation when they gained access to a firearm. A four-year-old child discharged the firearm, which struck a six-year-old child.
The six-year-old was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
On March 1, 2023, a search warrant was executed in relation to the incident. Officers seized five firearms, a cross bow and ammunition.
An adult male was arrested and will be facing a charge of Unlawful Storage of a Firearm. He was released with an upcoming court date.
