RM of Gimli, Manitoba – On February 28, 2023, at approximately 1:55 pm, Gimli RCMP received a report of a cement truck entering the ditch on Highway 8 at 17th Avenue in the RM of Gimli. Officers attended the scene immediately. EMS was on scene and pronounced the 46-year-old male driver of the truck, from Winnipeg, deceased.
Initial investigation has determined that the southbound cement truck swerved to the west side of Highway 8 and entered the ditch, rolling and trapping the driver and lone occupant.
The investigation continues. Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health is conducting an investigation as well because the driver was on shift at the time of the collision.
