Parkland County, Alberta – On Mar. 1, 2023, while travelling eastbound on Highway 16 near Range Road 32 in Parkland County, Parkland RCMP members were flagged down by a semi-truck driver. The driver informed police that a vehicle was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes, and had nearly struck him.

Police went in search of the vehicle, and located a head-on collision on Highway 16 between Range Road 33 and Range Road 34. The 40-year-old male driver of the suspect vehicle, and the 28-year-old female driver of the second vehicle both sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision and were transported to hospital. They were the sole occupants.
The suspect vehicle was determined to be stolen, and had fled from police during a traffic stop a short time earlier. Intoxication is believed to be a factor. The suspect is in police custody and charges are pending as the investigation continues.
Parkland RCMP are asking the semi-truck driver who initially alerted police to contact Parkland RCMP at 825-220-2000. Parkland RCMP would like to thank the driver for his assistance, and speak with him further about the incident.
