Fort Saskatchewan RCMP arrest Edmonton male in relation to VIN tampering

Edmonton, Alberta – On March 8, 2023, members of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic and Crime Reduction Units observed a vehicle leave a known residence in the downtown area. A traffic stop was conducted and members observed evidence of the vehicles VIN numbers being tampered with. Further investigation found that the vehicle was stolen out of Edmonton, and fraudulently registered in the drivers name. Police also located bear spray in the drivers door.

52-year-old Edmonton resident Corey Sarafinchan has been charged with:

· Possession of stolen property over $5000

· Fraud over $5000

· VIN tampering

· Possessing or uttering forged documents (x4).

After a Judicial interim release hearing, Sarafinchan was released from custody. His next court date is April 6, 2023, at Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court.
