Cochrane RCMP investigate assault with a weapon at Bearspaw school – UPDATED

Cochrane, Alta. – Charges have now been laid in an assault that occurred at an elementary school in Bearspaw, Rocky View County, Alta., where the adult victim was threatened with a knife.

Dai Shi (36), a resident of Calgary, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Dai Shi was released on conditions and is next scheduled to appear on April 4, 2023, in Cochrane Provincial Court.

As these matters are now before the courts, no further updates or details surrounding the incident will be provided.

BACKGROUND

Cochrane, Alberta – On March 14, 2023, at approximately 9 a.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of an altercation at an elementary school in Bearspaw, Rocky View County, Alta, where the adult victim was threatened with a knife. The victim was not injured.

A female suspect has been arrested, however her name will not be released until the information is sworn.

The investigation is ongoing.
