RM of Alexander, Manitoba – On March 14, 2023, at approximately 1:40 am, Powerview RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Provincial Road 304, located north of the community of Powerview/Pine Falls.
An officer approached the vehicle, with three occupants inside, and spoke with the male driver who provided his drivers license. The two passengers were requested to produce identification but stated they did not have it with them. They provided names to the officer which were quickly confirmed to be false.
The 28-year-old male passenger and 31-year-old female passenger were arrested for Obstruction and taken into police custody.
As the two passengers were removed from the vehicle, an officer observed a small baggie containing a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, on the recently occupied seat.
The 30-year-old male driver was arrested and secured into a police vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 348 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of methamphetamine, cash and drug related paraphernalia.
Clements Swampy (28) and Stephanie Daniels (31), both from the community, were remanded into custody on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x3, Fail to Comply with Release Order, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Obstruction.
The 30-year-old male driver was released for a future court date in Powerview on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
