Shamattawa, Manitoba – On March 10, 2023, at approximately 9:40 pm, Shamattawa RCMP responded to a disturbance at a residence in the community.
It was reported that a female was damaging things inside the home and was in possession of an edged weapon.

Officers attended immediately, however the female had since left. The residents were advised to lock their doors and call police if she returns.
Patrols were made for the female but she was not located.
At approximately 1:45 am, RCMP received a second call from the same residence advising that the female had returned and was breaking things in the home. A lot of screaming could be heard in the background.
Officers attended and as soon as they entered, the female threw a ceramic pot towards them. The pot narrowly missed the officers and shattered on the wall behind them. Officers advised the female she was under arrest, however she refused to listen to police commands. The female pulled a knife out of her pocket and a conducted energy weapon (CEW) was deployed. The CEW was not effective and it was deployed a second time. This time it was effective and the female fell to the ground, and was arrested.
The female was transported to the detachment and continued to be combative. She was hitting the windows of the police vehicle and at the detachment she spat at officers.
Ginelle Redhead, 23, has been charged with Assaulting a Police Officer x2 and Resisting Arrest.
She was remanded into custody.
