Man who threatened bar employee with a knife arrested by Saskatoon Police

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – One man was arrested early Saturday morning following an assault at a bar.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., March 17, 2023, Patrol officers responded to a bar near Idylwyld Dive North and 24th Street East. It was reported to SPS that a male had threatened a staff member with a knife after being directed to leave the bar. He reportedly returned a short time later with three individuals where an altercation took place. The suspect is said to have struck a female before assaulting a male with a knife and fleeing on foot. The 34-year-old male victim was transported to hospital by paramedics with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Patrol members located the suspect a short time later in the area of the 1100 block of Avenue D North. He was arrested after attempting to flee on foot. Officers located and seized a knife from him.

A 29-year-old man is charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Assault, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon and Breach of Conditions.
