Portage la Prairie, Manitoba – On March 19, 2023, at approximately 11:35 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on 6th Street NE in Portage. While executing the search, officers seized:
A loaded shotgun
Ammunition
Cocaine
Crack cocaine
Methamphetamine
Drug trafficking paraphernalia
Brass knuckles
Prescription pills
Credit cards and cheques in unknown names
Officers determined the loaded shotgun was stolen, and the barrel had been sawed off.
Four adults were arrested at the scene. Jordan Chartrand, 28, of Winnipeg; a 35-year-old male; and two females, aged 42 and 29, all of Long Plain First Nation, are facing multiple charges. Chartand remains in custody while the rest have been released to appear in court.
Those who produce and traffic illicit drugs destroy lives, homes and communities. The RCMP remains fully committed to enforcing laws against illicit drugs to their fullest extent.
