Regina, Saskatchewan – On the morning of Saturday, March 18, 2023, police were dispatched to a residence on the 3000 block of Dewdney Avenue for a property check. Information received was that a male was trespassing on a rental property. Police entered the location and found both a 27 year-old male and a 17 year-old male inside, with numerous drugs and firearms in plain sight. The two males were arrested and charged, and the drugs, firearms, and ammunition were seized.
A search warrant was executed on the residence, and further firearm ammunition and a substance believed to be methamphetamine were located.
Twenty-seven year-old Shayden Alexzander THOMPSON, is charged with:
Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine) [CDSA 5(2)];
Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) [CDSA 5(2)];
Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Alprazolam) [CDSA 5(2)];
2 X Careless Use of A Firearm / Ammunition [CC 86(1)];
2 X Possess Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm [CC 95(1)(A)];
Possession of a Restricted Weapon with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(B)];
Possession of a Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime [CC 96(1)]; and
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)].
A 17 year-old, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine) [CDSA 5(2)];
Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl) [CDSA 5(2)];
Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Alprazolam) [CDSA 5(2)];
6 X Possession of Firearm / Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
2 X Careless Use of A Firearm / Ammunition [CC 86(1)];
2 X Possess Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm [CC 95(1)(A)];
Possession of a Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime [CC 96(1)];
Possession of a Restricted Weapon with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(B)]; and
Fail to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137].
Both accused made their first court appearances in Provincial Court and Provincial Youth Court Monday, March 20, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
